Planning - We've Got You Covered

What to Expect When You Reach Out:

When contacting our office, a member of our staff will ask some basic questions to determine if we can help. During this free, no-obligation screening, we will ask questions about your goals, family dynamics, and concerns. If the staff members decides we can assist, she will send out our "personal information booklet" via secure email. Complete the packet to the best of your information with the client's information and return it to our office. An attorney will review your packet to determine how to best schedule your appointment.

Basic Estate Planning or Pre-Planning for Long-Term Care:

A staff member will reach out to discuss scheduling an initial consultation with one of our attorneys. The fee for this consultation is $500. We book these appointments for 90 minutes to allow enough time for the attorney to answer all your questions, provide her recommendations, and discuss the right planning option for your family.

From there, our office works on a fixed-price schedule.  That means that the attorney will give you a range of options to meet your needs and quote a flat fee to design, draft, review, and execute your documents.  We believe in taking time to meet each client's needs and encourage communication before, during, and after, and fixed-prices for our services allow us to do so.

Long-Term Care and Medicaid Planning:

A staff member will reach out to discuss scheduling a non-attorney "Right-Fit" Meeting with Kate Shanahan, our Practice Manager. There is no fee for this meeting, and as Kate is not a lawyer, no legal advice will be given. But Kate has been with our office since 2010 and has spent the entirety of that time working with families just like yours. After a discussion with the family, Kate will talk through the available long term-care options. Whether there is an immediate need for care, or just anxiety about future care, this is a great time to get a thorough overview of the options for Delawareans.

If Kate feels it would be of benefit to your family, she will offer a Levinson Firm Asset Protection Family Game Plan™, and discuss next steps at length.

Long-Term Care Process

ANALYSIS

Asset Protection Family Game Plan™

The long-term care world is complex and every family's situation is different. We will talk to you about your specific goals and concerns. The attorney will analyze your financial situation, your current estate plan, and consider your goals and concerns to prepare a personalized and comprehensive plan specific to your family. She will then review the plan with you in detail and give options and recommendations.

IMPLEMENTATION

Personalized Legal Strategies

After reviewing the Family Game Plan, it is time to implement those recommendations. Based on your personal situation, we will recommend several legal strategies that our office guides you in implementing, from start to finish.

MAINTENANCE

Family Support Program™

After we have implemented our recommended strategy, you are now part of our family. The biggest problem we see with traditional estate planners and elder law attorneys is that clients never go back to update their plans. Because life is always changing, we want to make sure that your plan continues to work the way you want it and that you're also keeping your plan up-to-date based on any family, financial or legal changes. Members of our Family Support Program enjoy many benefits – the most important one being an annual asset review with the attorney.
